Collection: FOREST MUSHROOMS

Did you know that in Finland, everyman’s rights allow anyone to pick wild berries, herbs, or forest mushrooms freely, even on privately owned land (not private yards), as long as one does not cause any disturbance or damage to the landowner. Finnish forests are full of healthy and nutritious mushrooms. Sometimes, if you are lucky you can find chaga, an immune-boosting superfood. Keep in mind that for harvesting that you need to get a permission of the landowner.

Many mushrooms are high in vitamin B - in particular vitamin B2 (riboflavin) and vitamin B3 (niacin) - and vitamin D. Due to their yellow color, chanterelle mushrooms are rich also in carotenoids, vitamin A precursors. Mushrooms contain several minerals, especially potassium, iron, zinc, and selenium but are low in sodium, which makes them suitable for those with high blood pressure. Chaga contains numerous B vitamins, flavonoids, phenols, minerals, and enzymes.

Mushrooms are rich in dietary fiber, which is essential for digestion. Being low in calories and fat, they constitute an ideal part of a healthy diet. On dry weight basis, the protein content of mushrooms is approximately 33%. Mushroom proteins contain eight amino acids that are essential for humans. Mushrooms contain as much protein as milk or peas.

Originating from the pure Finnish nature, these wild plants that grow in the north are one of the most nutrient- dense foods. They owe their nutrient density to the short but intense growth season filled with light during the short Finnish summers. And it is the cold winters that help keep our plants pure and healthy.

All Natural Nordic products are carefully selected and gently processed to preserve all the vital qualities and make them easy to use. Our wild food products are of high quality, 100% natural without any additives, naturally gluten-free, and suitable for a vegan diet.
